Ryan Jack Edwin Zurrer (born February 9, 1983) is a Canadian-born, Swiss-based entrepreneur, venture investor, collector, and philanthropist. He is the founder of Dialectic, Vine Ventures, and the 1OF1 Art Collection.[1][2][3]

Early life and education

Zurrer was born to Edwin (Ted) Marshall Zurrer and Mary Anna Zurrer in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. He graduated with honours from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.[4]

Investor

Zurrer was an early investor and contributor to crypto startups, including Ethereum, MakerDAO, Numerai, Polychain Capital, Filecoin, Polkadot, Dfinity, Avalanche, Solana, Near, Synthetix, Sky Mavis, Yield Guild Games, SuperRare, Anoma, Celestia, and Forgotten Runes Wizard Cult. He contributed to the development of the Simple Agreement for Future Tokens (SAFT) and introduced the Keepers concept in DeFi.[5] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons Zurrer also invested early in Othership, Lykos/MAPS, Tripp, SpaceX, Tessera, and Bright Minds. Through Vine Ventures, he established the Regenerative Financing Vine, a $70 million SPV to support MAPS while keeping it non-profit.[6]

Digital art collecting

In November 2021, Zurrer purchased HUMAN ONE by Beeple at a Christie's auction for $28.95 million.[7] In June 2022, he curated the digital art charity auction Cartography of the Mind with Christie's, raising nearly $1.6 million for psychedelic-assisted therapy research.[8]

In November 2022, his 1OF1 collection exhibited Refik Anadol’s Machine Hallucinations - MoMA at the Museum of Modern Art, which attracted 2.3 million visitors over a year and was later donated to MoMA. Zurrer serves on MoMA's Media & Performance and Painting & Sculpture acquisition committees.[9][10]

Philanthropy

Zurrer was a sponsor of the DAO White Hat Group in the Ethereum ecosystem in 2015.[11]
